The GBV-250 Geometric Bulk Volume System enables automated computer data acquisition of calipered dimensional data on core samples. The operator simply positions the calipers across the core sample and depresses a button to log a dimension. Several measurements can be taken along the core length and diameter in order to obtain an accurate bulk volume measurement. Bulk volume is automatically calculated by the supplied user friendly software program. Statistical data describing the shape of the core sample is also calculated and logged. The statistical data can be utilized to determine if a sample is a good right cylinder or if it is unsatisfactory for testing.
 
The GBV-250 system includes a six-inch (optionally twelve) capacity set of calipers, a computer interface module, and a software package for data acquisition and calculations. Any computer with a RS-232 communications port can be utilized for data acquisition.
